Emergency entrance temporarily shifts due to construction at Grand Strand Health
Myrtle Beach, SC — Grand Strand Medical Center is moving forward with significant enhancements to its laboratory, operating rooms (ORs), and emergency department as part of the hospital’s ongoing commitment to expanding services and elevating the patient experience.
To support this work, the hospital will temporarily shift the emergency entrance starting Tuesday, January 13, 2026, and all emergency room patients and visitors will be required to enter through the main entrance. The current emergency entrance off Hwy. 17 will be closed throughout construction. Individuals arriving for emergency care must use alternate access points at 79th Ave. and 82nd Pkwy., which will help ensure a smooth traffic flow.
The enhancements for Grand Strand Medical Center’s main campus will include the addition of three operating rooms, larger storage space for supplies and upgraded processing capabilities in the laboratory, in addition to updates to the ER entrance and care spaces, which will improve efficiency and enhance patient care.
“These investments reflect our dedication to meeting the growing needs of our community,” said Lauren Davis, Chief Operations Officer at Grand Strand Health. “Enhancements to our lab, operating rooms, and emergency department will strengthen clinical capabilities and allow us to continue delivering high-quality, accessible care.”
Construction will occur in phases to minimize disruption to patient care. The hospital will continue to provide updates as work progresses.
